Refunds & Returns Policy (OBDAI)

Effective date: March 1st, 2026

 

This policy applies to purchases of OBDAI hardware (OBD-II dongles) and direct web subscriptions from Ontario Analytics LLC. App-store purchases (Apple, Google, Microsoft) and Amazon orders follow those platforms’ policies (see §3–4).

 

1) Return Window & Condition (Direct Web Orders)

  • 30-day return window from the delivery date.
  • Items must be unused or like-new, in original packaging with all accessories, inserts, and labels included.
  • Returns require an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization). Start at support@obdai.app with your order number.
  • Please do not send returns without an RMA—unauthorized returns may be refused.

Open-box / used items (non-defective):
If pairing/use has occurred but the dongle is undamaged and complete, we may accept it within 30 days as open-box. A 10–15% refurbishment/restocking fee may apply to cover inspection, repackaging, and test time. Missing parts or damaged packaging may incur additional deductions.

 

Bundle Orders (Hardware + Software License):
OBDAI bundles include both a physical OBD2 scanner and a prepaid Premium software license. These are separate components with different refund eligibility. Once a license code has been redeemed or activated, the software portion of the bundle becomes non-refundable. If you return a bundle after activating your license code, your refund will be limited to the hardware portion only (plus any applicable tax collected on the hardware). The software license value will be deducted from the refund amount. Hardware value varies by bundle and tier. If the license code has not been redeemed, the full bundle is eligible for a standard return within the 30-day window.

 

2) What’s Not Returnable

  • Downloadable software/licenses and activation codes (including redeemed subscription codes).
  • Subscriptions purchased through app stores (Apple/Google/Microsoft) — see §3.
  • Physical damage, misuse, alteration, or liquid damage (not covered).
  • Returns after 30 days (except warranty claims under §6).

3) App-Store Purchases (Apple, Google, Microsoft)

If you purchased a subscription in-app, all billing, refunds, and cancellations are handled by the platform you used:

  • Apple App Store: request a refund via Report a Problem
  • Google Play: use Order History → Request a refund
  • Microsoft Store: manage through Microsoft account billing

We cannot directly refund app-store transactions.

 

4) Amazon Orders (FBA)

For items purchased on Amazon, please initiate returns through your Amazon account (Your Orders → Return/Replace). Amazon’s policy and timelines apply. Do not ship Amazon purchases to us directly unless Amazon instructs you to.

 

5) Refund Process (Direct Web Orders)

  1. Request RMA: email support@obdai.app with order #, serial (if available), and reason.
  2. Ship the item: use a trackable service; include the RMA in the box/on the label.
  3. Inspection: we’ll verify condition and completeness within 3–5 business days of receipt.
  4. Refund: if approved, refunds go to the original payment method within 5–10 business days (your bank/card may take additional time).
    • We refund the product price less any applicable restocking/repair deductions and less outbound/return shipping if not defective.

Return shipping:

  • Customer pays return shipping for change-of-mind or non-defective returns.
  • We cover reasonable return shipping only for DOA/defective units confirmed by support.

6) Defective, DOA, or Warranty Claims

  • Dead on arrival / defective within 30 days: we’ll repair, replace, or refund after troubleshooting and RMA approval. We cover return shipping for confirmed defects.
  • Limited Hardware Warranty: 1-year against manufacturing defects (excludes damage, misuse, modification, unauthorized firmware/software, or normal wear). Remedies are repair or replacement at our option.
  • To start a claim: support@obdai.app (include order #, photos/video if possible, and a description).

7) Exchanges (Same Item)

We’ll exchange defective/damaged items for the same model after RMA approval. If the same model is unavailable, we may offer an equivalent replacement or a refund.

 

8) Late or Missing Refunds

If a refund hasn’t appeared after our confirmation:

  1. Check your bank/credit card again.
  2. Contact your card issuer—posting can take a few business days.
  3. If you still don’t see it after 10 business days, email support@obdai.app.

9) Sale / Promotional Items

Unless required by law, sale/clearance items are not refundable except for defects covered by §6.

 

10) Shipping & Risk

  • You’re responsible for return shipping (unless defective/DOA).
  • We recommend a trackable carrier and shipping insurance for items over $75. We are not responsible for returns lost or damaged in transit.

Note: Do not send returns to our Nevada registered agent or to Amazon. Use the RMA instructions you receive from support.

 

12) Gifts

  • If marked as a gift and shipped to you, we can issue a store credit to you once your return is approved.
  • If the order wasn’t marked as a gift (or shipped to the purchaser), refunds go to the original purchaser.
