Short answer: Open the OBDAI app, tap the ☰ hamburger menu (top-right corner), tap “Upgrade to Premium”, choose “Yes, I have a code”, and enter your license key. Your Premium access activates immediately across all your devices.
⚠️ iOS Users: Apple does not allow in-app license code entry. On iPhone and iPad, you must activate your license through your web browser at obdai.app/quickstart (or obdai.app/amazon-quickstart for Amazon purchases) instead. See the iOS Activation section below.
Where to Find Your License Code
Purchased from obdai.app/shop:
- Your license code was emailed to you immediately after purchase
- Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from OBDAI or WooCommerce
- The code is also printed on a sticker inside your hardware package (if you ordered a bundle)
Purchased from Amazon:
- Your license code is printed on a sticker inside the product packaging
- Look for a label with a code in the format:
OBDAI-XX-XXXX-XXXX

Step-by-Step Activation (Android & Windows)
Step 1: Download the OBDAI App
If you haven’t already, download OBDAI for your device:
This link detects your device and sends you to the correct app store (iOS, Android, or Windows).
Step 2: Create an Account or Sign In
Open OBDAI and sign in using Google, Apple, Microsoft, or email. This account is how your Premium access syncs across all your devices.
Important: Use the same sign-in method on all your devices. If you sign in with Google on your phone, sign in with Google on your tablet and computer too.
Step 3: Open the Navigation Menu
Tap the ☰ hamburger menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen. This opens the navigation drawer, which slides in from the right side.
Step 4: Tap “Upgrade to Premium”
Inside the navigation drawer, you’ll see your AI credits meter and a button labeled “Upgrade to Premium” (free users) or “Manage Subscription” (existing subscribers). Tap it.
Step 5: Choose “Yes, I have a code”
A popup will ask: “Do you have a license code to redeem?”
- Tap “Yes, I have a code” to open the License Activation screen
- Tap “No, show plans” if you’d rather purchase a subscription through the app store
Step 6: Enter Your License Code
The Activate License screen shows:
- A sample license code card image showing where to find your code
- Instructions for Amazon and Online Store purchases
- The license code format:
OBDAI-XX-XXXX-XXXX
- Type or paste your license code in the License Code field
- The code is automatically converted to uppercase
- If you enter an Amazon license (codes starting with
OBDAI-A1), an Amazon Order ID field appears automatically - Tap “Activate License”
Amazon purchases only: When the Amazon Order ID field appears, enter your 17-digit Amazon order number (format: XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX). You can find it in your Amazon order history. An orange “Amazon Purchase Detected” badge confirms the app recognized your code.
Step 7: Confirmation
If successful, a popup confirms: “🎉 License Activated!” showing your plan type and expiration date. Tap “Awesome” to close.
Your Premium access is now active immediately — no app restart required.
iOS Activation
⚠️ Apple App Store policy (Guideline 3.1.1) does not allow in-app license code entry on iPhone or iPad. The OBDAI iOS app does not have a “Redeem Code” option.
Instead, iOS users activate licenses through a web browser:
Step 1: Open the Navigation Menu
Tap the ☰ hamburger menu icon in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Tap “Upgrade to Premium”
A popup will ask how you’d like to go Premium:
- “I already bought Premium” — Opens your default web browser to the activation page where you can enter your license code. WooCommerce buyers can also go directly to obdai.app/quickstart, Amazon buyers to obdai.app/amazon-quickstart
- “See subscription plans” — Shows Apple’s in-app purchase options
Step 3: Activate on the Web
Follow the instructions on the web activation page to enter your license code and link it to your OBDAI account.
Step 4: Sync Your Premium Status
After activating on the web, return to the OBDAI app and either:
- Tap “Restore Purchases” in the navigation drawer, OR
- Close and reopen the app
Your Premium status will sync automatically.
How Do I Know My License Is Activated?
Once activated, you’ll notice these changes:
- No more upgrade prompts — The paywall screens disappear
- Unlimited ARIA conversations — No daily caps or response limits
- Navigation drawer shows “PREMIUM” — The AI credits meter displays “OBDAI” with “PREMIUM” and “UNLIMITED” instead of a credit count
- “Manage Subscription” button — The upgrade button text changes from “Upgrade to Premium” to “Manage Subscription”
If you’re unsure, ask ARIA: “Am I on Premium?” — she’ll tell you your current status.
Troubleshooting Activation Issues
“Invalid code” error
- Double-check for typos — codes are case-sensitive
- Make sure you’re entering the full code including dashes
- The format must match:
OBDAI-XX-XXXX-XXXX(where XX is a letter followed by a number, like A1, R1, or I1) - Don’t confuse letter O with number 0, or letter I with number 1
“Code already redeemed” error
- Each license code can only be activated once
- If you activated it before (even on a different device), sign in with the same account to access your existing Premium
- If someone else used your code, contact support@obdai.app
“Invalid Amazon Order ID” error (Amazon purchases only)
- The Order ID format is
XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX(three groups of numbers separated by dashes) - Copy it directly from your Amazon order confirmation email
- Make sure you’re using the order that contained the OBDAI product
“You must be logged in” error
- Make sure you’ve signed in before trying to redeem
- Go back to the main screen, sign in, then try again
Premium not showing after successful activation
- The app should update immediately — Premium takes effect right after the success popup
- If not, sign out and sign back in — This forces a token refresh
- Check your internet connection — The app needs to sync with our servers
- Restart the app — Close and reopen OBDAI
App crashes during redemption
- Update to the latest version of OBDAI from your app store
- Restart your device
- Try again on a different device (your Premium will sync once activated)
Using Premium on Multiple Devices
Your license works on all your devices — phones, tablets, computers. Here’s how:
- Activate the code on ONE device (follow steps above)
- Sign in with the same account on your other devices
- Premium syncs automatically — no need to enter the code again
Example: Activate on your Android phone, then sign into the Windows app with the same Google account. Premium is already there.
Important: You must use the same sign-in method. Google on one device, Google on all devices.
License vs. App Store Subscription
License codes (from our shop or Amazon):
- Prepaid for a fixed term (3 months or 12 months)
- Do NOT auto-renew
- Activated by entering a code (Android/Windows) or via web (iOS)
App store subscriptions (Google Play, Apple, Microsoft):
- Auto-renew monthly or annually
- Managed through the app store
- No code needed — just purchase in-app
Both unlock the same Premium features. You don’t need both — choose one method.
If you have a license AND an app store subscription running simultaneously, you’re paying twice. Cancel the app store subscription to avoid double billing.
